Pear Shape Salt and Pepper Diamond Solitaire Ring
Why We Keep Coming Back To Pear Diamonds
At Rustic and Gold, we have a thing for pear diamonds.
We always have. There's a movement to the shape that round and oval stones don't carry — a point at one end, a soft curve at the other, and a silhouette that elongates the finger in a way that feels natural rather than forced.

When we find a pear salt and pepper stone with good faceting and a matrix we love, we stop everything and figure out what to build around it.
This one stopped us.
The Stone We Built This Around
This pear diamond weighs 0.88 carats and measures 7.2 x 5.5mm. We cut it in a rose-cut style, which was a deliberate decision on our part. And also one we stand behind completely.
Rose cuts sit flat on the bottom and dome gently above. Neither deep pavilion underneath, nor hidden geometry below the girdle. Just a broad, shallow surface of facets that catches light warmly and evenly across the whole face of the stone.
On a salt and pepper pear diamond, that quality does something special. The matrix inside the stone — the natural black and white inclusions scattered through it — stays fully visible at every angle. Nothing hides in the shadow underneath. Everything sits right there on the surface, open to the light, showing exactly what this stone is made of.

The faceting on this particular diamond has a clarity and precision to it that we don't always find in rose-cut stones. The matrix runs through it with a natural pattern that no other diamond in the world carries.
That's not a line we use loosely at Rustic and Gold — salt-and-pepper diamonds are genuinely unique, stone-to-stone, every single time.

Our Prong Setting
We set this stone in an 18k white gold prong setting, and we chose white gold here for a reason.
White gold against a salt and pepper stone keeps everything clean and cool — the metal doesn't compete with the natural colour of the diamond, it just frames it. The prongs sit at the tip and along the curve of the pear, holding the stone firmly at its most vulnerable points while leaving the entire face of the rose cut completely open above them.
We position every prong individually by hand at Rustic and Gold, checking height and pressure at each point before we move on.

The band runs in 14k white gold at 1.5mm — smooth, polished, and also slim enough to keep the focus on the stone sitting above it. We sized it deliberately to sit lightly on the finger without disappearing entirely. It holds the ring together without announcing itself.
Our Craft
We handcraft every ring that leaves Rustic and Gold.
We shape the band, polish it by hand, and also build the prong setting around the specific stone. We've sourced the diamond for you and set it ourselves.
A pear stone in a prong setting needs careful work at the tip — that point chips if the prong doesn't sit exactly right, and we take the time to get it exactly right, every time. Our artisans have been doing this work long enough to know where the difficulty is. And how to move through it without cutting corners.
Ethically Made, Every Time
We use natural, ethically sourced diamonds and also recycled gold across everything we make at Rustic and Gold. That commitment runs through every ring on rusticandgold.com — this one included.
